by Robert Swift
Text Box: June 2 — July 15
Text Box: September 29 — October 21
Text Box: The Widow Mentary and her daughter, Ella, operate the relay station in Carson City, Nevada. Ella loves stalwart cowpoke, Ned Sterling, who wants to ride for the Pony Express, even if he has to risk death. When a stagecoach rumbles into town, driver Foghorn Redburn's horses are cranky, and the rugged journey has left the passengers just as grumpy. The villainous Pugsley Moonquake and his beautiful but dangerous half-sister, Felicia Da Flea, plot to disgrace the Pony Express, defraud the railroad and steal Ella Mentary's money.
Text Box: Khan Phoundit, the most rotten rattlesnake in the desert, plots to relieve the simple, but honest, Dusty Shooe of all his money aided by his beautiful but equally nasty accomplice, Ima Watchin. Khan tries to get Dusty to sign a worthless contract for buying donkeys from him, and kidnaps Kitten Shooe, Dusty’s beautiful daughter. All appears lost, but Khan has not reckoned with the mysterious Chinese foreman from the railroad, the ever-reliable Cactus Kate, who helps Dusty run the store, or Stan N. Tall, the fur-trading hero.

Text Box: Veronica Blather, is a sweet little old lady who spends most of her time knitting and solving murders, most of which occur whenever she shows up. Understandably she has a problem finding a place to live. When her niece invites her to stay at a retirement home for old knitters, it seems ideal - until one of its members dies from drinking poisoned punch. Who did it? Matilda, the president of the Crazy Quilt Club; Lydia, who likes to die on Tuesdays? Or Clara, a compulsive liar, or the wisecracking Sarafina who doesn't trust anybody and carries a rifle just to be sure?
