YOUR BUILDING FUND DOLLARS AT WORK!

This year, for St. Patrick's Day, the Golden Chain Theatre held it's first-ever St. Patrick's Day fund raiser.  A traditional corned-beef and cabbage dinner, with all the trimmings was served, along with Irish-inspired cocktails and green beer.  Directly following dinner the Golden Chain Theatre put on a full two-hour show, featuring the premier of the 2001 season traveling troupe's Mini-Melodrama, "The Olde Cookie Shop".

Adding to the St. Patrick's Day gala were performances by local musicians, singers, and our very own Grub Gulch Garter Girls, Grub Gulch Dancers, and Grub Gulch Grannies performing traditional irish-folk dances.

A Raffle was held the evening of the show, and local merchants came through with some very nice gifts.  Everyone who attended had a terrific time, and many said they would be back next year for our next spring fund-raiser.

The money raised from this and other fund raisers goes to our building fund, which the board of directors established to maintain, upgrade, and enhance our building to make our facility more enjoyable and accessible to our patrons.

This year, we've redecorated our lobby, auditorium and saloon, and converted our original wardrobe space to a School of Performing arts, with Miss Pattil-Law Poggi, choreographer, being the first to take up residence in the new space.

Most exciting to us, however, is a major project, which is to be completed just before opening of our Summer Melodrama, "Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch".  Your contribution, along with the support of a local private investor has enabled the Golden Chain Theatre to install a brand-new parking lot for our patrons, and, for the first time, to pave our Cast and Crew parking lot, while enhancing and increasing the number of spaces reserved for our disabled patrons!

Steve Sparks of Sparks Paving, in Mariposa, California,  and his crew have been doing an OUTSTANDING job grading, preparing, and creating our new lots.  The GCT board of directors highly recommend them for any paving or grading work.  They are extremely knowledgeable about all phases of designing, preparing and creating new lots or refinishing existing lots.

J.J. Conley, of Conley Construction, in Oakhurst, California will be striping the new lot to maximize parking spaces, while still allowing for comfortable manuevering in the lot.  The new lot also makes it more convenient for tour busses to drop patrons off at our front door, and then move to designated parking spaces in the front lot.

The Golden Chain Theatre board of directors and our volunteers are VERY excited by this project and hope you will enjoy our new parking facility.  We are doing everything we can to make sure we can continue to bring you at least another 34 years of 19th century historic and melodramatic theatrical productions to our community, and patrons and visitors from around the world.

YOU CAN HELP!  Donations to our non-profit organization are tax-deductible!  Make your checks out to "Golden Chain Theatre" and drop them in the mail to us at  P.O. Box 604, Oakhurst, CA 93644.

Come on by and say "howdy" and see our work in progress.  Or better yet, come and bring your family to a great evening of fun, family entertainment, Golden Chain Theatre Style!  See you at the show!
