This year, the Golden Chain Theatre's season
promises to be even bigger and better then our 2002 Season! Again, we
cannot thank enough the volunteers that go into making each season so
spectacular! Here's a peek at this year's coming season!
REGULAR SEASON SHOW SYNOPSIS:
The regular season starts June 14th, with our Historical
Production, "We the People". Next, our Summer Season Melodrama, "Black
Deeds in White Horse" opens August 9th. Finally, we conclude our regular
season with the Comedy, "The Boarding House", premiering on October 11th.
Following is a description of each show. Below that is the year broken out
by month with each planned event.
“We
the People”
June 14—July 28th
"How can
you say a few words about America?" So begins this patriotic tableau as a
committee discusses putting on a patriotic show for their town. Poignant
and funny vignettes illustrate what the pre-amble of the constitution is
showcased phrase by phrase. This “slice of life” Norman Rockwellesque
production touches American history from our humble beginnings through two
World Wars through to the events of September 11th. A Grand Red
White and Blue Finale rounds off this timely and patriotic salute to America!
Suitable for all ages.
“Black
Deeds in White Horse”
Comedy / Melodrama
August 9th—Sept 22
Don’t
Miss this Momentous Mountain melodrama! Boo the Villain! Cheer the
Hero! Commiserate with virtue in distress! Set in the Canadian
Rockies, this traditional comic-melodrama pits a fiendish and felonious
Villain against your average every-day 19th century white-horse-riding hero.
The cast is peppered with lively and lovely ladies, who have all been out in
the cold too long, and are looking for a man (even an EVIL man) to make their
day. Olio Acts interspersed between the action include our
lovely Grub Gulch Garter Girls, Grub Gulch Dancers, and the world famous Grub
Gulch Grannies!
“The
Boarding House”
Comedy / Melodrama
Oct 12—Nov 17
“Wacky and eccentric”
barely begins to describe the residents who abound in this 19th century-set
comedy about a boarding house and it’s occupants. From the nervous nanny
whose noxious teas leave much to be desired, the hypochondriac whose happiest
when she’s harboring hideous diseases, to the frustrated playwright who
plans to act out the perfect murder as inspiration for his next book, you’ll
never know what will happen next. Follow these forlorn fellows and the
other boarders as a Gypsy medium announces she’s channeled the ghost of a long
dead pirate and that his buried treasure is hidden in the basement!
Suitable for all ages.
